New York City is home to one of Abbott's World Marathon Majors and an unequivocal vibrant running community. From Central Park loops to Brooklyn bridges and five panoramic islands, running in NYC is akin to carving out an oasis in the concrete jungle. Here's a tool to find your crew among 200+ run clubs, a new running track, or amenities:

Run Clubs
Run club data is sourced from @shaylaruns', delicious spreadsheet, which keeps track of 200+ NYC run clubs with meeting locations, times, and distances.

Pathways, Tracks, Parks
Running pathway data is sourced from Esri's Living Atlas OpenStreetMap layers: OSM_NA_Leisure for parks and tracks, and OSM_NA_Highways for paths. Data updates every 5-15 minutes from community OSM edits.
Strava Segments
Strava's segment is a user-created section of road or trail where athletes compete for fastest times. We use the Explore Segments endpoint to fetch the top 10 most popular segments per selected borough, then some stats (athlete count, elevation, distance) via the Get Segment endpoint. Segment popularity is determined by community activity and updates dynamically.
Marathons

Amenities
Amenity locations are sourced from Esri's Living Atlas OSM_NA_Amenities layer. Water fountains are tagged as amenity=drinking_water and restrooms as amenity=toilets in the OSM database. These points are community-mapped and updated every 5 minutes, though coverage may vary by neighborhood. Runners can contribute missing amenities directly to OpenStreetMap.org.
